If he was really sincere about offering assistance he wouldn't have gotten so defensive by bashing the Thai person in charge at the rescue site.

Elon's defensive tweet exposed his true agenda in the involvement in the Thai Cave rescue as a PR stunt. People with true and pure intentions will not mind failure of ideas.

It's the thought that counts. At the end all he could think of was his invention......

Elon Musk was most likely just leaping to seize an opportunity (when someone tweeted seeking his help) to score some PR points.

As for the NUS girl, It's more or less proven she has zero critical thinking skills. Herd mentality. Any famous person who says something is good means it must be good without prodding further.

In this case, she feels vindicated as someone famous had echoed her idea, but that idea bombed hard. So in the end it made her look even more stupid.
