SINGAPORE - The catering arm of well-known restaurant group TungLok had its licence at the Max Atria at Singapore Expo suspended on Friday (Nov 23) after 190 people reportedly fell ill from eating food prepared at its premises.
The National Environment Agency (NEA) said in a notice on its website on Friday that it is working with the Ministry of Health (MOH) and Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) to investigate multiple cases of gastroenteritis traced to the consumption of food from TungLok Catering at 1 Expo Drive.
In response to queries by The Straits Times, the authorities said on Saturday that a total of 190 people had reported symptoms of gastroenteritis as of Friday.

SINGAPORE: Restaurant chain Spize on Friday (Nov 9) had its licence for its River Valley Road outlet suspended for an unspecified period of time, after 49 people who ate its food fell ill with gastroenteritis.
Of those who fell ill, 21 people have been hospitalised, said the National Environment Agency (NEA), Ministry of Health MOH) and Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) in a joint press release late on Friday.
"The suspension will be in place until NEA is satisfied that the public health risks have been addressed," the release said.
The authorities said they were first notified of the cases on Wednesday and conducted a joint inspection of the restaurant’s premises on the same day.

A popular halal buffet restaurant has been suspended for two weeks by the National Environment Agency (NEA) for selling unclean food and failing to keep its premises clean.
The Landmark, located on the fifth storey of Village Hotel Bugis in Victoria Street, will cease operations from Tuesday to Sept 10.
NEA said in a statement on Tuesday that the restaurant was suspended as it had accumulated 16 demerit points over the past year. The restaurant was also fined $1,100.

SINGAPORE - Well-known Hokkien restaurant Beng Hiang has been suspended for two weeks and fined $800 for repeated cockroach infestations at its premises.
In a suspension notice on Monday (June 11), the National Environment Agency (NEA) said the restaurant accumulated 12 demerit points over the past 12 months for failing to keep the licensed premises free of cockroach infestation.
As a result, the restaurant in Jurong Gateway Road will be suspended for two weeks until June 24, said NEA.

SINGAPORE: The Toast Box outlet at Plaza Singapura has been suspended for two weeks over rodent and cockroach infestations.
According to a suspension notice posted on the National Environment Agency’s website (NEA) on Friday (May 25), a “foodshop at 68 Orchard Road, #01-23 (left side, part of) Plaza Singapura” was suspended after accumulating 12 demerit points in the past year for the offences.
It was also fined S$800. The suspension is from May 25 to Jun 7.
