Japan Food Town shuttered on Feb 29, lease terminated by landlord Isetan for 'non-payment of certain sums'
SINGAPORE - Japan Food Town, the cluster of Japanese restaurants on the fourth floor of the Isetan department store at Wisma Atria, closed down on Feb 29.
In a filing to the Singapore Exchange dated Jan 31, Isetan issued a notice to quit to Japan Food Town Development for non-payment of certain sums. The termination of tenancy was with immediate effect, and Isetan will exercise its right of re-entry to the premises on Feb 29.
Japan Food Town's website has posted a notice to say that it is closed, while its Facebook page lists promotions till Feb 25.

Could Long John Silver's be sailing away from our sunny island?
That's a concern on some fans' minds as a number of the popular fast food chain's outlets shutter in Singapore.
The latest to join the list is its Woods Square branch in Woodlands, which will open one last time on Oct 30 after almost six years at the location.
A notice was put up at the outlet to inform customers of the closure, shared SG News Warehouse Sale & Events in a Facebook post on Wednesday (Oct 21).
"We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the support and patronage over the years," it read.
Remaining outlets nearby include ones at Northpoint City and Wisteria Mall in Yishun, as well as Yew Tee Point, the notice added.
Following the latest closure, there will be 10 Long John Silver's outlets left in Singapore — down from the 17 outlets reported by AsiaOne in end July last year.
Among those outlets that have shuttered this year are those at Jurong Point, which closed just days before on Oct 19, Kampung Admiralty on Aug 29 and at Tampines Mall earlier in March.
Other reported outlet closures this year include Suntec City, Commonwealth and Westgate Mall, according to social media.
The pattern eventually caught the attention of Long John Silver's fans, with some taking to online forums to share concerns about its future in Singapore.
In a Reddit thread discussing the spate of closures, one user questioned whether the fast food chain was preparing to exit Singapore.
"Going to miss it when it's gone," the user added.
Others expressed their reluctance to part with the brand, with one commenting: "I hope not. I have a 24/7 outlet near me that I enjoy visiting. I'd say they are also pretty affordable. I guess I should start visiting more again just in case."
Meanwhile, some were puzzled by the closures.
"I wonder why. It's popular and has a good menu in my opinion. The Bishan and Yishun outlets are always full," observed a netizen.
Founded in the US back in 1969, Long John Silver's first entered Singapore in 1983, offering diners here a taste of its signature deep-fried seafood.
Just last year, the chain announced that it was progressively shifting to 24-hour operations in Singapore.
It currently operates five 24/7 outlets at Yew Tee Point, Junction 8, Northpoint City, Wisteria Mall and Woods Square.
