A Writ of Summons along with a Statement of Claim has been served by Davinder Singh Chambers LLC on behalf of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to Terry Xu, Chief Editor of The Online Citizen as on Thursday (5 Sept), 3.51pm at his house.
The statement of claim finds fault with an article published on TOC, "PM Lee's wife, Ho Ching weirdly shares article on cutting ties with family members", stating that the article contained statements that are false and baseless and were calculated to disparage and impugn PM Lee as well as his office as the Prime Minister.
Terry has 8 days to enter an appearance to defend the claim by PM Lee.
Wah imagine for a moment if LWL really chooses to testify, and yells at her bro in court once more: "DISHONOURABLE SON!!!!!'
Will the judge dare to tell her to keep quiet boh?
LHL's didi and meimei can decide if they want to take the stand with Terry..........yikes
Chang Li Lin, the press secretary to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has responded to media queries about the defamation suit filed against Terry Xu, the editor of The Online Citizen.
In a brief statement to the media on Sept. 10 night, Chang explained the reason PM Lee is going to court:
The Prime Minister has filed a suit against Mr Terry Xu of The Online Citizen (TOC) for defamation. He has done so because the allegations are completely false. If there is a trial, PM Lee will testify in court. His siblings can decide, together with Mr Xu, whether they too will testify, and repeat the allegations in court. The court can then establish the facts.
Xu had earlier in the day on Sept. 10, wrote in a Facebook post that he intended to defend himself in court and would take the opportunity to ask PM Lee on the stand why he did not sue his siblings instead.

Here's a message for Botak Terry:
Terry Xu will be representing himself against Pinky in upcoming defamation suit

A Memorandum of Appearance has been filed by me with the High Court today, to indicate that I will be claiming contest of the defamation suit filed against me by the Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Hsien Loong on 5 Sept 2019.
After much deliberation and consideration, I have decided to represent myself in court.
As a result of this decision, there will be no crowdfunding for my legal defence as I do not have to pay any lawyer fees and court filing fees are still manageable. Please do not donate to any online or offline fund raising campaign created in reference to my case.
I will have to file my defence for the case within 14 days from today and the pre-trial conference is scheduled to happen on 15 October 2019, 9.30am.
If members of the public are adamant on helping me at the onset of my legal battle against the Prime Minister, please consider supporting The Online Citizen (TOC), Singapore’s longest running independent online news platform, which is owned and currently solely run by me, who assumes the position as the Chief Editor and is supported by a few staff and volunteers.
As I will have to devote my time to prepare the case’s legal defence and learning about the court’s procedural rules, less articles will be published in the foreseeable future and consequently ad revenue is expected to decline.
Therefore, I sincerely hope that supporters can help to finance the site so that it can stay afloat and remain operational while I navigate my way through the stormy journey ahead.
Please consider signing up as a subscriber (with no apparent benefits accorded at this moment) via the website ($) https://www.theonlinecitizen.com/membership, the pateron site (USD$) https://www.patreon.com/tocsg or if you are apprehensive about making online payments, you can drop off the annual subscription fee of $60 with your email at our virtual office, 20 Maxwell Road #09-17 (10am - 5pm weekdays). Alternatively, you can choose to commission TOC to cover stories that you are interested in. https://store.theonlinecitizen.com/p...opinion-piece/
Lastly, I would like to thank all the supporters who have posted kind words of encouragement online, in relation to my legal suit. Rest assured that I have read each of them and while I am unable to reply to everyone directly, I will try my best to live up to your greatest hopes and expectations.
Majulah Singapura!

For journalists who wish to enquire about the decision to represent myself in court, you can quote me using the following:
“I do not wish to fight the case via an attorney because of the costs involved and neither do I want to pass the financial burden of engaging a legal team to supportive members of the public by conducting a crowd-funder. While I will be fighting an up-mountain battle since I do not have near-infinite resources like what the world’s highest paid politician is endowed with, I am willing to take that chance and stand my ground firmly against such uncalled-for intimidation, especially when it comes directly from a public servant. And as a Singapore citizen, I would also like to use the opportunity to ask my Prime Minister — straight in his face — why he did choose to sue me for merely repeating allegations made by his two siblings instead of going after them personally.”
Pinky is gravely injured like this? Seriously can't think of any other lee-der who spends so much time going around to sue his own citizens.
LMFAO don't play play hor............TOC article has ‘gravely injured’ PM Lee’s character and reputation!

All TOC did was report Lee Wei Ling’s accusation – and *that* is considered defamation?
How can PM Lee Hsien Loong suggest that since he had presented his side of the story in Parliament with full cabinet support, that ought to settle the issue once and for all?
I echo Dr Tan Cheng Bock who recently said:
Singaporeans are still very much clueless about who is telling the truth and who is not. Or, who is hiding facts and who is unraveling them. We will be none the wiser unless a proper judicial verdict is pronounced with all the evidence presented, and after appeals have been filed.
Without that, and with his demand toTOC using the full weight of his Office, what message does PM Lee send to the common folk on the street?
They may also have quarrels or misgivings with their siblings, but don’t have the same opportunity or avenue to address their grievance in a hopeful bid to clear his or her name, as the Prime Minister claims to have had.

Terry Xu had better begin losing weight so he can properly fit into prison garb.
Even on a Sunday (1st September 2019) the press secretary to the prime minister had to work. And it was not even work for the country though the threatening three-page letter was written on official stationery.
The prime minister is unhappy because of an article and a facebook post that allegedly repeated his siblings’ falsehoods and allegations of abuse of power. In his letter, the prime minister warned that his “restraint in suing his siblings should not be misinterpreted by others as free licence to repeat and spread false and defamatory allegations against him, as the Article and Post have done.”
By issuing a letter to Terry Xu demanding that he removes the article and post and requiring him to issue an unconditional apology and undertaking not to publish similar allegations, we can take it that the prime minister has changed his mind about refraining “thus far” from suing his siblings. He is prepared to let Terry Xu call his siblings as witnesses or even bring them in as second and third defendants should he commence legal proceedings.
As members of the public, we do not know who is telling the truth. The parliamentary session in 2017 which the prime minister claims had given a full explanation to the accusations of abuse of power by his siblings was a one-sided affair. It was a monologue and to me an abuse of parliamentary process and waste of public funds to conduct a special hearing for a private dispute. What was even more disturbing was the fact that Parliament did not give the prime minister’s siblings the opportunity to clarify matters.
It is perhaps time to resolve matters through the courts.

If Terry ever embarks on an online donation drive to fund his lawsuit, I shall be more than happy to contribute.
LHL is merely making Terry's dream of squatting in Changi Hilton come true, Terry must thank our great PM!
Pinky is such a small gas lee-der, really see him no up. Will Yang yang come to Terry's rescue?
