The crunch World Cup last 16 match between hosts Russia and 2010 winners Spain at Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow has been a lively encounter, and one man has predictably been at the center of it all: Sergio Ramos.
Spain captain Ramos is perhaps the most vilified man in football so it's perhaps no surprise that La Roja's center back grabbed the headlines in the first knockout stage match in the Russian capital.
Ramos it was who created problems in the area when Spain had a free-kick delivered from the right flank, tussling with Sergei Ignashevich to force an error from the veteran defender.
In the end, the ball flicked off Ignashevich's heel and into the net, past a rooted Igor Akinfeev to make the game 1-0.
Predictably, Twitter has had its say on the matter, with many users praising and of course criticizing the 32-year-old on everything from his haircut to his celebration of an own goal, to even accusing him of trying to dislocate Ignashevich's shoulder.
Artem Dzyuba equalized from the spot after his header found the arm of Spain's other center back Gerard Pique, who was yellow carded for the offense.
Dzyuba found the back of the net after sending David De Gea the wrong way to net his third goal in four games at the World Cup and level the score.
